Construction / Museum & Gallery Fit-out

Galleries, fitted
out properly.

Fine joinery, cabinetry and metal structure for permanent and touring exhibitions. Recreated heritage interiors, immersive interactive builds - we fabricate and install in timber, plywood, paint finish, acrylic and metal, a trusted hand to the NGV, ACMI, Museums Victoria and the WA Museum. The work continues, now with the national resources of Theatre Safe Australia behind it.

What it takes

Fine joinery to full recreation.

We supplied fabrication and installation across four permanent galleries at the WA Museum, and fine joinery, plinth work and acrylic for the ACMI Permanent Gallery Renewal.

For Little Lon at Melbourne Museum we recreated two 1860s houses, down to hard-plastered walls, creaking floorboards, rusting iron and bluestone paving. Cabinetry, sculpture, metalwork and carpentry - whatever the exhibition needs made.

Questions

Good to know.

What do you fabricate for galleries?

Fine joinery, cabinetry and plinth work, specialty construction in acrylic and silicon, sculpture, and metal and timber fabrication - then installation on site, finished to the exhibition design.

Have you worked with the major institutions?

Yes. Projects include four permanent galleries at the WA Museum, the ACMI Permanent Gallery Renewal, exhibitions at the NGV, the Waltzing Matilda Visitor Centre and several installations for Museums Victoria.

Can you recreate heritage interiors?

Yes. For the Little Lon installation at Melbourne Museum we recreated two 1860s houses - hard-plastered walls, creaking floorboards, rusting corrugated iron and realistic bluestone paving.

Do you install as well as build?

Yes. We fabricate in our Preston workshop and install on site, in timber, plywood, paint finish, acrylic and metal, working to the exhibition designer's intent.

Are you still operating after the change of ownership?

Yes. The workshop is open and the team is at the bench. Show Works is now part of Theatre Safe Australia, with the national resources of TSA behind the work.

Planning an exhibition?

Permanent or touring, heritage or immersive - tell us what the design needs made and we will fabricate and install it.
