Jersey Boys, The Musical - 2009
Jersey Boys follows the life and times of one of the great icons of Rock and Roll. Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons have enjoyed musical success in 4 decades with hits too numerous to mention.
Show Works has built the bulk of the impressive set that now stands in the Princess Theatre in Melbourne. Incorporating laser technology, aluminium and steel construction, several square kilometres of chain mesh and some of the most impressive theatre masking seen on recent Australian stages, Show Works are thrilled to have provided the Paul Dainty Organisation with the complete theatrical service.
As well as building the scenic items, Show Works supplied the complex i-lite components for the spectacular lighting elements. Show Works has also provide a comprehensive level of support during the arduous rehearsal process by means of rehearsal props and sets along with assistance with logistics and last minute requirements.
Wicked, The Musical - 2008
The greatest critical hit of 2008 would have to be the acclaimed musical, Wicked. Already enjoying huge success in 7 other countries, Wicked opened in Melbourne at the Regent Theatre in early July and Show Works was delighted to be involved in its theatre scenery construction.

Show Works' involvement started in July 2007 with a fact finding visit to the LA production. After the bidding process, Show Works was delighted to be awarded many of the more challenging items of scenery including almost all of the diverse rolling stock including corn rows, the ubiquitous Yellow Brick Road, a trick Armoire, a remote control wheelchair, a 2.7metre high statue and Dorothy's fallen house. All became our challenge to recreate to the standards of the previous productions seen on theatre stages throughout the world.
Show Works was also awarded the task of raising 2 enormous timber beams in the auditorium of the Regent Theatre. These beams were 12.5 metres in height and around 22metres in width and were comprised of aluminium trussing clad with distressed plywood . They presented their own challenges including the need to be able to remotely lower the attached lighting rig to the auditorium floor for maintenance amongst other things. All in all, a huge challenge that is still running in the Regent Theatre to sell out crowds.
